Air France has announced the immediate retirement of its Airbus A380 fleet as an impact of the COVID-19 crisis. Initially, the airline had planned to retire all nine airframes from its fleet by 2022. The French flag carrier accelerated the A380's withdrawal as part of its fleet simplification strategy of making the Air France-KLM Group more competitive in an industry devasted by the global pandemic.

NOT surprised really. all 4 engine pax aircraft are an endangered species! although B.A today flew a A380 to manilla for 'heavy maintenance' so looks they will carry on with some of them!

How many more will park the A380 once and for all, I wonder? I've heard murmurs that Etihad and Qatar will remove their A380s. I can't see the Chinese carriers keeping theirs.

I am not too sure about Korean and Singapore. I would think Qantas would be in a similar situation as well.
