Charleston, South Carolina is rich in American History dating all the way back to its day as a bustling British colony. Its history is obviously important to all the citizens of South Carolina. Equally as important to the locals is modern Charleston, and Boeing plays an important part.

With Boeing in Charleston as well as the additional commerce of the area, British Airways has decided to jump on the increasing need for a direct European connection. The British carrier will begin operations to the city in 2019 using Boeing 787-8 equipment.

Indeed. The first carrier to operate to flights to and from Europe. It seems that BA is seeing a sharp rise in load factors between the US and UK. Looks like they are cashing in on a need here.

Good move.

I wonder why? Good service, maybe cheap prices? I'm guessing other carriers will be keeping a close eye on how well they do on this route.

Good question, John. My answer is that I am not quite sure. No disrespect to BA, but my preferred choice is either Lufthansa or Swiss business class.

I have heard that Lufthansa have very good service. Swiss is an interesting one. I'm guessing you have flown on one of their MD-11s? [thumb]

Lufthansa's business class is very good in my book. Swiss is on equal footing with them as far as I am concerned.

Back in the Swissair days, I had the pleasure of their MD-11 service. I sure do miss the MD-11. Loved that airliner as much as the DC-10 and L-1011.

The classic Qantas colors would have looked so good on either the DC-10 or L-1011 don't you think?

Yeah i think the Qantas colors would have looked amazing on the DC-10! Especially with the polished belly and cheat line running along it.
