The bird strike happened en route from Vienna to Riga over the Gulf of Riga. Looks like the bird lost, but at least he went down swinging. airBaltic has pulled the A220 from service to perform technical/safety checks.

As far as I am aware, this is the first incident involving the A220 family. There are no reports of injuries, though the bird might beg to differ.

I am also not aware of any preceding incidents involving the CSeries.

Fair whack on that one! The noise would have given the pilots an almighty fright.

Okay, I thought so, thank you for the confirmation. I have to tell you, this is a gem of an aircraft in my opinion. It appears from what I am reading that the operators are quite happy with them.

I am hopeful for a very successful future for this Canadian built beauty. We have JetBlue with an order now, and I suspect we shall see more US carriers come on board. I wonder if QANTAS would be a taker for the -300? At some point, the 717s will need replacement.
