NATO's Scientific & Technology Organisation (STO) had their top secret advanced developments team known as X-Projects Unit located at Evie Air Base. Some had compared the Unit to Lockheed's renowned Skunk Works. Following the successful Evie Air Show, X-Projects Unit were keen to showcase their capabilities using newly acquired advanced aviation technologies still under examination in their covert 'Black Box' Hanger on the base.

The STOs Chief Executive set X-Projects a challenge. The challenge was to take a well known science fiction aircraft and turn it into a full sized workable science fact creation. The science fiction concept was to be proven to work demonstrating potential military capabilities using conceptual designs and pioneering avionics to redefine battlefield flight for the future.

To make things interesting a national competition was held and a shortlist of 3 emerged:

-  Battlestar Gallactica's Colonial Viper Mk II & Mk VII
-  International Rescue's Thunderbirds 1 & 2
-  Star Wars T65 X-Wing Starfighter

A decision was to be made on the successful entry in the next few weeks. The X-Project Unit's scientists invited colleagues from NASA to work in collaboration with them on this.

Meanwhile ahead of the decision an STO site inspection team arrived at Evie to inspect the construction site.

Trust me Steve I'm no where in your league when it comes to trucks, dozers and big rigs. Mine looks pretty amateur when compared to your work so bear with me with the first few scenes. Later scenes should start to look better... I think!

As for other scales I am planning a 1/43 project for later this year. Already bought the models. It promises to be big and quite different- Cars! A new diorama in design stage. This one is just a stop gap to keep me busy. thanks anyway.

Wish I could story board these from start to finish. Usually I just have a vague idea on the story to present and I may do a few bullet points on paper but I'm never more than one episode ahead on the actual story. To be honest it pretty much evolves as it gets posted. As I start shooting the pics sometimes I change the original plot and add new things in. The story on occasion 'directs' me towards eBay for new purchases [eek]

I envy your literary skills Jetboy. Really do. As for RLSI like how you've blended your talents there and given it real Characters. Look forward to reading more shenanigans there.

Editor's Note: Firstly my apologies for the not too great quality of the models presented. Not a patch on The Legend Steve K's awesome stuff. Hopefully the presentation conveys the message and compensates. Stick with me, this is going somewhere...I think!

So the heavy equipment starts to arrive on site
