Each year, there are many new concepts released about what the future of aviation will look like. Some may catch on, but others will likely become the What Ifs of tomorrow. In this thread I will look at many of these concepts.

First up: A 737 piloted by............ a robot arm?

I'm not sure how the travelling public would react if they knew that no human pilot was at the controls. I suspect that future airliners will be flown by "pilots" sitting at a desk at the operators HQ, rather like pilotless drones used by the military.

I agree, at least for a while. Instead of 2 pilots for every jet, it will take only a team of pilots at an airline HQ to manage an entire airline. Anyways, I'd say it's still a long way off, but once cars start driving themselves it's only a matter of time.

Transpose, an interesting concept from Airbus which aims to create a modular aircraft cabin. The idea is that based on the passengers, the cabin could be reconfigured to include different modules.

Ah, sort of like a QC 'quick change' aircraft.

Yes, but on a much larger scale.

I probably wouldn't be comfortable getting on one today, but someday it could happen.
