On This Day In Aviation History - 12 June 1972


An American Airlines McDonnell Douglas DC-10-10 suffers a rapid decompression over Windsor, Ontario. AA Flight 96 was en route from Los Angeles to New York, with stopovers in Detroit and Buffalo.

The incident was the result of a cargo door failure due to a design flaw. All 56 passengers and 11 crew survive.
